WELCOME TO ARCTICFLITE ANIMAL BEHAVIOURISTS,
ALSO THE HOME OF ARCTICFLITE WORKING & SHOW DOG TEAM.
Thank you for taking the time to look at our website. I would like to start by telling you a little bit about me, my life and my family.
We are based in Romford, Essex (England) and in Edinburgh (Scotland).
I was very fortunate to have grown up with dogs in my family and immediate family. The breed I had at home were German Shepherd Dogs.
My love of dogs began at a very young age, I guess I was a bit of a geek though, as my interest and love wasn't just giving cuddles and playing with them.
I wanted to train them, I wanted to feed them and most of all..... I wanted to speak DOG!!
By that I do not mean that I wanted to bark or whine or growl like them, I mean I really wanted to understand their language, know what they were thinking and feeling as best I could, I wanted to be able to read their body language and answer them back appropriately when they 'spoke' to me.
I started to read unbelievable amounts of books, watch tv programmes.... any documentary or film with any sort of canine in and I was there. I would sit and watch my own dogs and dogs out in the street, in parks or at friends houses for hours upon hours. Noting what they were doing and how they behaved, what was their body language like.
I was extremely lucky also to have my dad! He is quite literally the one who sparked my passion for dogs. I would watch him train and probably asked far too many questions to not be annoying. But he was great, he answered my questions and he introduced me to learning to actually train a dog. He was a member of a dog display team and would travel all over the country doing displays at events. The dogs would show agility, bitework, scent work and obedience..... and of coarse some funny things and wow factor stunts. I ended up becoming a member of the team when I was old enough and as time went on, I was allowed to train for and play an active roll in the actual displays - and LOVED every second of it.
Eventually I also worked voluntarily in a vets - every Tuesday and Thursday after school, i'd go home, get changed and run down to the vets so I could see the other side of care involved. I got to see everything from consults to surgery, kennel maintenance and the sad reality of a sick, seriously injured or old pet...… the day they leave the earth. I can tell you it never got any easier to see.
Once I had finished at school, I had a bit of a change of scenery and just tested the water to make sure that dogs were really what I wanted to do, and as it turns out...… YES, dogs were exactly what I wanted to devote my life too.
I worked with some trainers, started my canine coarses to get my qualifications, and the rest as they say is history.
Now I am the proud mother of 4 children - two sons and two daughters. I own my company (ARCTICFLITE CANINE SPECIALISTS), As a family we work and show our family dogs. All the children are involved with the dogs and their care training and competition: Not because I forced them, but luckily, they all have a passion for them too.
I have also worked closely with a few rescues to rehabilitate dogs, I am also a doggy fosterer.
I am constantly updating my canine education and keep up to date with current methods, keep an eye on the science and go to workshops.
I am maybe a little different to a lot of trainers - I teach the owners to build a bond and communicate with their dog before starting to help them to correct a training or behavioural issue. The key to success with your dog comes from the unbreakable bond and limitless trust between the owner and dog...….. not a bribe to work for a treat!!
Theres a reason our dogs are domesticated and are "MANS BEST FRIEND"
I hope you enjoy my website, feel free to contact me about anything canine related. I am always happy to help if I can.
